T2T Story and Vision — from today’s clearances to a greener future

01 • WHERE IT STARTED

There's always been a buzz in finding something others have overlooked.

My uncles were the same. Walking past a skip, spotting something at the side of the road, seeing something somebody else had finished with — there was always that thought: could this still be useful to someone?

That rubbed off on me. I don't think there's anything magical about it. It's just a buzz. Sometimes I can use it. Sometimes I know somebody else will see value in it.

My wife absolutely hates me going to our local tip. I have a habit of coming back with more than I took there.

02 • THE BUZZ

Canoes. Mug printers. Garden furniture. Pictures. A bit of everything.

There are too many finds to list. That's probably the point. It was never about one category or collecting one particular thing. If something looked useful, interesting or like it still had a life left in it, it was worth a look.

THE CAR BOOTOne of the best-paid jobs I ever did outside full-time work was a Sunday morning car boot.
THE MOMENTOpening the boot and seeing people swarm around, trying to discover what was inside — that was the buzz.
THE INSTINCTNot everything is treasure. But looking first has always felt better than assuming something is rubbish.

03 • T2T TAKES SHAPE

We didn't know exactly what T2T would become.

And we're not going to pretend we did.

It has evolved as we've gone. Clearance gave us the practical foundation. Reclaimed gave good items another route. Storage Hunts brought the unknown and the discovery. The Exchange opened that same opportunity up to everybody — not everything of worth needs to become stock for a business.

We think we've found the right balance: clear what needs clearing, reuse where we can, move things on and give more people the chance to find value in something somebody else no longer needs.

We're still near the beginning. But the foundations are now in place.

This to That circular mark

THIS → THAT

Something unwanted can still have somewhere to go.

The name became a simple way of describing something we've done for years. One person's finished-with item can become somebody else's useful find. Sometimes that's through a clearance, sometimes Reclaimed, sometimes the Exchange — and sometimes it's simply somebody spotting the thing they didn't know they needed.

04 • WHERE WE WANT TO GO

Small family business.
Big vision.

A countryside hub for people who love the unknown find.

One day, we believe T2T can have an out-of-town countryside home of its own.

Not simply a shop. A hub of like-minded people having a rummage without necessarily knowing what they're looking for. Clearance teams coming and going. Finds being sorted, photographed and moved on. Reclaimed pieces waiting to be discovered. Storage Hunts feeding something new into the mix. The Exchange keeping useful things moving between people.

And somewhere amongst it all, a place to sit on a bench with a brew for five minutes and watch people going here and there.

We want people to leave carrying something they didn't know they needed and saying on the way home: “That was great. We'll be coming back again.”

05 • GIVING IT A GO

The dream matters.
Trying matters more.

For me, success isn't just about how big T2T becomes.

It's having the chance to build something from a dream and spend my time doing something I genuinely enjoy instead of simply doing a job I don't.

Will it work? We believe it will. Could it fail? Of course it could.

But I'd rather be able to look back and say I gave it a bloody good go than always wonder what might have happened if I'd tried.

06 • YOU'RE PART OF IT

We're building it in public, one step at a time.

Every clearance we're trusted with. Every Reclaimed find that gets another home. Every Exchange member. Every person who buys something, leaves a review, tells somebody about us or simply comes back to see what's turned up next — all of it moves T2T a little further forward.

Maybe one day we'll be sitting on that bench with a brew, watching people rummage around the T2T hub, and remember when all of this was still just the plan.

If you're here near the beginning, we'd be happy with you simply thinking: good for you for trying.
